Pulled dash now temp gauge not working

85 300TDT

I pulled the instrument cluster out this weekend to repair a broken odometer and the odometer repair went great but now my engine temp gauge is not working. Any thoughts?

You probably cracked the circuit board. I had to solder 3 wires on mine to re-establish the connections.

How can I tell if it is cracked? Is it obvious?

Well, on mine, it was completely snapped in two.

If you look closely, you'll see raised lines under the white paint on the dial-side of the circuit board. Follow the ones from the temp sensor to the connector socket, and make sure they're intact.

Another possiblility is a faulty ground, but then the other gauges wouldn't work either.

Finally, you may want to confirm that a signal is reaching the cluster.

Good luck
