I'm looking for the socket/bit for the head bolts. Anybody got a size?

Get the pack of four 12-point bits at Autozone for ~$12. I believe the 10mm bit fits the OM603.
Don't forget the couple of bolts into the timing chain cover and the bolts by the fuel filter. Sixto 87 300D |

be sure you get the triple square, not the 12 point torx bit or double hex bit. it's gotta look from the end like three squares. very sharp points, not rounded at all. should be on the shelf on a stake out from the rest of the tools.

oh.. and make sure you unbolt it correctly
outside in.. in a circular pattern (I think that is the mercedes procedure) .. or just do the X pattern of unbolting |
