1984 300D Turbo has no power until it warms up

I have a 1984 300D Turbo. I just had the injector pump replaced. It sat for about 6 weeks while the mechanic worked on it periodically.

Now, it has no power until it warms up. It has always been slow to go until you hit about 5 MPH. But, it is pathetic now.

I first thought the problem was the fuel after sitting for 6 weeks. But, I've run a tank through it and it seems to be getting a little worse.

Does anyone have any information that could help me?

diesel are always sluggish until they get up to operating temp, exceptionally in colder climates.

do you just start and go? warm it up before driving? when does it stop acting sluggish?

hmmm dont know. But basicaly the only reason it would be a super slug (more than if it was just cold, and this problem was sudden) is becuase its not getting enough fuel. Fuel=more air =power

I would check the timing. As the engine warms up the ignition occurs a little faster.

Not my 83 300D!

Worn engines can be sluggish when cold, and the ALDA/boost/linkage equipment out of adjustment contributes to the 0-5mph sluggishness.

A solid engine with attention paid to these areas will not exhibit these symptoms.

Jim
