OM603 intake removed - anything else while I'm in there?
I pulled the intake on my OM603 today to replace the leaking gasket. (previous owner replaced the glow plugs without doing the gasket --> leak) Everything went fine and I've bought new bolts, as the old bolts were starting to get worn.
But now I see that access to the whole left side of the engine, like injection pump etc. is really good. Is there anything down there around the injection pump that I should check/replace while I have the intake off and such good room to perform any work?

Depending on how old the glow plugs are............and how skillled a mechanic you are............changing them now might not be a bad idea.
Changing them without the manifold in place is 10 minutes...........changing them with the manifold in place is where the skill (and tools) are required. |

You might consider cleaning and lubing the "throttle" linkage. ATF seems to be the lubricant of choice.

The glow plugs were done a few months ago, just before I bought it - I haven't owned the car more than a few months.. But thanks for the tip!
