77 OM616 oil pressure question

I just recently purchased my first 240D and really love it. I'm not into speed so this car is perfect for my driving style. Forums are a great way to gather and learn from others info about your car. I do have a question about the oil pressure. Upon start-up either hot or cold motor the oil pressure gauge reads 4 bar. One would assume that it might be higher when it's cold and as the oil thins out due to the engine warming up it would lower. I know that in theory multi viscosity oil does is supposed to do the opposite. No matter how warm the motor is the oil pressure gauge is maxed at 4 bar and never moves until shut down. Any ideas on why this would be and how to remedy the problem?

While I'm at it I have another question. The fuel gauge is inop but the low fuel level light works. I'm assuming the sender in the tank is doing it's job but is it a two part deal? I'm looking forward to getting any feedback concerning my small problems. Thanks!

The only oil pressure problem you have is there is no gauge that goes to 4, the peg stops the needle at 3.

Mine comes down to about 1.5 at idle, but only when I have the idle turned down. If I left it turned all the way up, it would probably stay at or near pegged. I will check this tomorrow.

I checked, with the engine fully warmed up, I get about 40 psi (2.5-ish bar) with the idle turned all the way up. BTW, my 240 has gauges in U.S. units, but my 300 has metric. I prefer metric.
