Presenting. . . my newly acquired 1983 300D

Thanks to those on this board who gave me great advice about price, what to look for, etc. . . I have officially purchased my first Benz, a 1983 300D. It's already won over my heart. She's a true one owner car (making me the 2nd owner), garage kept, and clearly pampered from day one. Not a lot for me to do to this one, other than the maintenance, TLC, and daily driving that the car deserves.

Hope you all enjoy, I welcome your feedback / comments.

Here's some pics I snapped today:

Now that is the way to start up a new Mercedes ownership experience. It's almost cheating to start with a car that nice!
Thanks for the pics. Love to see that stuff......

Nice car. I noticed on one of the pictures of the back seat you were having trouble getting the arm rest up in to place. Well the back part of the rest slides upwards and then it just sinks in.

BTW - The pleat pattern on your seats are a single stitch. Do you have leather seats? If this is mbtex, my understanding it would be found on '84 and newer 300D's and a double stitch pattern is what typically came on '83 and older cars.

Yes, this car has leather and not mbtex, and it is my understanding that this one originally came with leather. that said, I DO believe the front seats have been recovered in the last few years.

I have to admit to splurging a bit, I couldn't resist. I paid $5500 :-)
The car popped up on Dallas Craigslist, and I was using the craigslist search app I built through yahoo pipes to search every craigslist site in the country. . so I called and made an offer on the car site unseen about 20 minutes after the listing was posted.

The owner agreed to take it to a dealership for an inspection before I came into town to pick it up. Everything checked out quite nicely, and the rest is just me driving with a smile on my face.

Not bad at all, it would have sold for quite a bit more around here in that condition. I think you got a good deal.

Yah man, that's a beauty - thanks for sharing. I don't think $5500 is bad at all.

I really need to move to Texas.
