How hard to slap a 617 into this car?

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/car/604537371.html

Its a 1989 300te wagon.....I already have a tranny....all I'd need is an engine....how hard would this be, and is it even possible?

I think the hood profile is too low for the 617.

Can anyone else confirm this? Is the 617 really that much higher than a 603? Because that car came with a 603......

Yes but the 1989 300TE is a W124.....does the 617 fit under the hood of a W124, or is it a closer fit?

I think the differences between the 617 and the 603 that go beyond the hoodline will be daunting in a mixed year swap like that. Exhaust, mounts, electronics, starter on different sides....

The car's in Michigan--

For 875, part it out on ebay--you'll get most of that back just for the engine core--Might take a month or two to get rid of the wreck, but I see a nice profit.

There are gobs of 103 motors rambling around--This car looks like it needs some serious clean up, but if most of the components are in tacked and functional, a running 103 could be easily had.

Potomac German surely has a 103 in good shape http://www.mbpartsonline.com/ or a near by yard.

Thats true, and I know I can get at least $250-300 at the scrap yard for the body. Maybe I will make him a lower offer (he wants $875) of like $550 or something....
