We will know.

Motor oil isn't disposed of because of metal fragments and other solids, it's filtered for that. The fuel filter will take care of what comes out of the pan, or it can be pre-filtered.

Engine oil is not really designed not to burn, but the engine is designed to keep a minimal amount in the combustion chamber.

From what I have seen on Ebay most of the Diesel Volvos seem to be on the East Coast. When my Wife needed another car I would have bought another one (automatic transmission though) but they are scarce in CA and I ended up buying a Mercedes
I like the car; mine has manual trans (no turbo) so that helps the slowness a little. Also, I have always driven slow cars so it was not much of a change for me. The main thing is after I overhauled the short block in 1996 it was real reliable until the IP drive shaft seal started leaking.
I bought a seal kit for it; took the IP completely apart (there is 2 rubber Cushions on the governor drive gear) assembled it and put it back on the car. Started it up and now have a lot of white smoke! For some reason timing is retarded too much to just rotate the pump.
I have the pump apart again right now and have not finished putting it back together.
Also you cannot go down to Pick-A-Part and expect there to be any Volvo diesel cars there.

I know a few guys driving big rigs set up so that when they're ready to change their motor oil, they flip a switch which sends the oil thru a filter and then into their fuel tank

Great responses and I appreciate the help. I currently have two engines that are good and three others where the IP is still good plus a zillion injectors.

My experiment would mean that merely four tanks of fuel ($75 each) would cause me to break even, plus the car will fetch $200 at the crusher. If break even is with four tanks of fuel, isn't it tempting to see if that could be beat?

Plus if fuel goes crazy with all the fear based, economical stuff going on, I have a good temporary 'fun plan'.

Some military vehicles with caterpillar engines feature an "extended oil change interval" system where some used oil is drawn out of the sump, filtered and injected with the fuel, and new clean oil is added to the engine to make up the difference. I don't know if they use special "burnable" oil, and I don't know what ratio it mixes with the fuel.

Then why use a 2 Stroke Oil in a 2 stroke if engine oil works ?

OTOH...RX7 engine inject engine oil into the engine to lub' the rotor seals. Hmmm?

Because 2 stroke engine oil IS designed to burn! It trurns the gas into a lubricant. 2 stroke oil will do very little if poured into a crankcase!

I've mixed used motor oil with WVO in my two tank system with no problem. I've also mixed biodiesel with kerosene and kerosene with diesel in the factory tank in the winter and kerosene with WVO in my heated tank. From my experience the car runs just fine on all of the above combinations. But when I am mixing in used motor oil I always put it in the auxiliary heated tank I have set up for WVO.

Also, I do not use oil from my own diesel. It is soooo dirty after 3000 miles that even after I filtered it down to 10 micron it clogged up my filters and turned out to be a pain in the arse. The used motor oil I use is from oil changes on my two Toyota trucks (one I drive on occasion and one that is used by my girlfriend for landscaping).

That being said; there is a guy on under the "Straight Veggie Oil as a Fuel" forum named B.K. Hosten that is using a single tank system and blending RUG (Regular Unleaded Gas) in with WVO. I think he uses blend somewhere around 10 parts veggie to 1 part RUG. But check that site if you are really interested and to be positively sure. He might be using some Kero too. Hope that helps.

No need to go outside the site - send a PM to PEH - IIRC, he runs his used motor oil all the time.

Some of the Wankel (an Audi company) engines in the RX7 also used glycol/water to lube the seals.
