Question 1992 300D lights

The only lights that work on the inside of the car are the insturment cluster, shouldnt there be other lights? Lights for the heat and ac controls, headlight switch, window controls, radio? None of those work, can you tell me where they (lights) are? and how to get to them. Thanks.

Radio, lights, switches, ACC, all have their own lights in the 124. Not sure how it's wired, would have to look that up, but it sounds like you're missing a connection somewhere. Do the dash lights dim with the dimmer knob (next to the odometer knob)? If not, it is possible that the dimmer died (rare in the 124), and someone wired just the dash/cluster lights to run direct.

DIY pages? What is that? Do it yourself, got it. There is nothing about the lights there.

Dimmer knob works fine.

Lights

another diagram

The little suckers are everywhere...I cannot find them yet on the FSM.
(I know the ones in the vents you have to be really careful getting at)

'Check the fuses shown...it's weird all of them are out simultaneously.

Aftermarket radio? Start there, someone might have clipped a wire.

Grounds

W12 is underneath the console cover (front of Window switches)
[Let's hope you don't have to go there].
W1 is in back of the Instrument Cluster(You have to pull it/push out from
underneath).
W7 is Passenger side of Trunk underneath the Starboard side rear light.
W6 is Portside of the Trunk (on the left rear Wheelhouse)

Look for any loose or improperly terminated wires(Brown).

Thanks, I will look this weekend. The lights in your car look nice, mine has not worked since I got it.

Power points

I see two points for power on the Schematics:
X6 terminal block 58d (2 pole) First picture
X6/1 terminal block 58D (2 pole) Second picture

To get to these you're going to have to disassemble the top of the center
console.
If you lift up the front of the carpet section of the console(Tray) there will
be one Phillips screw to remove. Then you can gently pivot the wooden cover
that fits over the window switches, mirror control switch(it pivots on two
plastic hooks that go under the vertical portion of the console.(you will have
to gently pry up the Black plastic surround that is inset at the gear selector
lever,First)
Aw heck, you'll have to get the console side covers off also.Which is another
magnitude of difficulty.
When you get the horizontal wood cover off the window switches, gently
wiggle one upwards(it just presses into the socket) and by then I may know
which pins on the bottom co-respond to the light bulb and you can check
it out for continuity. EDIT: I think the bulb is pins# 1+ 2 .

I just do not want to believe the problem is wiring.

Do you ever have any trouble with the electrical portion of the ignition switch?
