cracked injector??

i was messing with the car today and notcied that the 5th cyclinders injector is cracked on the outer jacket. its not leaking or anything but i was wondering if anyone has seen this before. they were just rebuilt 25K ago. the crack goes 85% down the jacket. will this eventually fail, gt a big trip coming up.
thanks in advance.

If you are talking about the nut that the spray nozzle sticks out of; and is also the part that threads into the pre-combustion chamber they crack occasionally. If you were working in a fuel injection shop maybe about 1 out of 200 or so injectors could have a crack (usually the customer tells you the injector is leaking). Hairline cracks are one of the things you need to look for when they are apart.
It also happens with injectors on other vehicles too.
It can be caused by over torquing (or cross threading) the nut to the injector body and/or over torquing them into the cylinder head.
