Any would be a custom made installation.
How much time and money do you plan to throw into this? I bet it's cheaper to look for a factory diesel pickup. I've got a Dodge-Cummins, and an OM617 turbo would not hold a candle to that truck engine. Heck, not even a tweaked OM603.... Jim

Pickups are practically the only US-made light vehicles that you can easily get a diesel engine in. Unfortunately it's not the compact models (Ranger, Dakota, S-10) but only the full-size models (F-150 and up, Ram or Silverado) that have diesels.

I'm sure in this signature "long titled" thread he meant that MB didn't make diesel pickups. Of course he knows that the big 3 have PU diesels......

While parting out my 300TD lastnight I was laying in the car thinking why not make a 300TD into a small pickup. I've seen it done before and it looks nice. I'm just not sure how it would effect the unibody strength. This would have some bearing on how much weight you could put in it. Although the rear suspension is strong, I don't know how much stength the car would loose by cutting it.

I thought Sprinter's were available in a kind of pickup arrangement (flat bed, drop sides?)

Look at the "chassis cab": http://www.dodge.com/en/2008/sprinter/ The chassis cab is only available as the "3500" version, which is a dually, and starts at $34K new for the 2008 model or $31,200 new for the 2007 model if you can find one.

I had a 1994 Ranger that was a great driving truck. I would think that engine would fit in there, though the length might be an issue...

i meant small or even mid sized pickups.
I know what a F 350 or F 250 or Dodge Ram is. To me you might as well be driving a tractor trailer. I mean those are BIGGGG trucks. PS HT Benzboy thanks for the Pictures and taking the time..........you people in Texas are always polite |

Should have added that to the thread title. Wasn't there still some room?
