Thumbs up Craigslist Score - 1992 300D 2.5

It's mine! I think it needs a t-stat and some floor mats. Otherwise, it's in great shape. The previous owner was the 2nd owner since 1997 when he bought it at 72k. It's at 190k right now. It's got lot's of new parts, mb-tex, and a stock 134a ac system. Now I need to figure out what to do with my '83.

I love Craigslist!

Nice car. Does it have ASD or heated seats? Has the head gasket been replaced? Did it have service records?

I'll second that. You'll find that the 124+602 combo is miles more refined than the 123's. You'll also like the fuel mileage too. Just watch out for problems with the EDS and vacuum wastegate and you'll be cruisin

I have a 1991 300d, what are these things? What happens to them, and how do I prevent problems?

Thanks guys. I used to have an '87 but sold it in a moment of stupidity. I'm glad to have another w124. I didnt know head gasket problems were common for this year

The PO was a DIY'er so all I got were receipts for parts, no records. He moved on to a CDI, so this one had to go.

It's just the computer that controls stuff like the EGR, idle speed, and wastegate. There are a number of sensors on and around the engine that need to be functioning for the computer to be happy. If anything goes wrong with one, the computer will express its unhappiness by cutting the boost resulting in very slow acceleration (18+ 0-60).

A schematic for a DIY code reader can be found on this website, with parts available from Radioshack for about $20. That page is about his S500, but the code reader is compatible with almost any MB from '90 to about '95.

Why do you need to bring her back to life?

Congratulations on your find. I am trying to sell mine on Craigslist myself. I thought I would give it a try before paying for a listing on autotrader or ebay.

Here is a link to mine:

Again, congratulations on your new ride.
