went to MB dealer for parts... bought some shoes?

on the parts counter they were advertising Piloti drivng shoes...
they looked ok, so I went and tried some on... very nice... not a horrible price... 85.00 and up depending on style...
http://www.piloti.com/
I found it odd that MB was showcasing something that did not have the MB star on it at the counter...
what do you think?

All we need now are driving pants, socks, underwear and shirts. Got the gloves and shoes!

The rounded heel does look like it would be easier to change between accelerator and brake pedals.

They look just like wrestling shoes. I wonder what the differences are that make them twice the price.

I had a girlfriend once with round heels....

I'm suprised the toe isn't rounded so they can bend you over easier. Driving shoes? WTF do you need driving shoes for?

most wrestling shoes I see are over 90.00 and they are plastic... designed for light weight and floormat gripping.

these shoes are leather, very solid, full tread front and rear, the rolled heel has the same tread as the sole, and no transition to affect shifting etc... I got them because they felt very solid and comfortable and they fit my wide size 12 foot! tons of padding in the heel area. and the ball of the foot.
I don't like the laces much. they are a bit short... you really have to lace them tight to have enough lace to tie a decent knot.
I do see the similarities in them to wrestling shoes, but wrestling shoes are knobby and these are smooth... I have only worn them for 1/2 a day, so we will see how I like them in a month...

They are helpful when driving a racer on the track, I'm not sure that they have any utility on the street.

I take it back ... after looking again I think they look more like Merrell's with a smooth sole. I remember wrestling shoes pretty much locking your ankle in position. What's the ankle mobility like or did you get the low rise version?

heck, around here we just drive around in our long underwear, and a straw hat, maybe "driving shoes' would work with that.

To the person that bought the $85 driving shoes:

I have some driving socks. They were especially broken in with a fine Virginian leather fixture designed to stress them just the right way.

The Mercedes model comes in MB Black 020.

Only $20 a pair. PayPal works.

I do most of my driving in Belleville 300 DES STs:

AKA work boots, AKA GI boots from my last overseas trip. Quite comfortable and the price was certainly right

You're supposed to wear shoes when you drive?

Actually driving barefoot feels really cool ... I've done it a couple times when wearing heels (yeah, once or twice a year I'm forced to don those wicked things ... ) ... no way you can drive in those, so I just kick 'em off a "free foot" it.

I could see the usefulness of a shoe designed for driving comfort in a stick ... not a lot of foot action in an automatic unless you're a brake-beater. Either way I'd never pay extra for a "driving shoe." But the shoes described aren't really any more expensive than any other dress shoe or biz-cas shoe.

Yeah Griots sells those, they are nice. If I had a car I took to the track all the time I would get a set. My feet are big and so are my sneakers, a driving shoe is usualy pretty compact so you can heal toe. This is even more important in a car built for little people, or monkey's, like a pre VW Lambo, or an S2000.

I bought a jacket from the MB dealer, I don't think they charged any more than a department store. Came out to $90. But I ripped it 3 weeks later. So maybe this fall I'll get another.

I don't know why you would need them on MB's...since they are all autos...

Oh and don't get driving gloves, you can only wear those in an old British sports car.
