Question about Veg Oil......

Has anybody had problems with Veg Oil storage.
I get 15 gallons a week but I'm not able to use but 5-10 at the most.
I have a 125 Fuel Oil drum that has been cleaned (cut open and cleaned with a scurb brush) then I made a bolt on insepection/cleaning plate.

My question is will the veg oil get mold or bacteria that would mess up a batch of cleaned WVO??

And if so what can you add to the tank to keep it clean??

Thanks any help

Just make sure there is no water at all and keep it out of direct light.

Sweet....the steel drum will help with the light issue
Maybe I'll build a lean to over the tank to keep the rain off.

There are biocides you can use just to make sure. The one I use is called "Killem". It just takes a few ounces for a 50 gal barrel, so it really is cheap insurance against fungus/mold.

the oil can go south on you regardless of water or contaminants that may or may not be left in there. check out frybrid.com forum, im pretty sure chris has done more research and testing on this than anyone alive. you should definitely try to rotate stock inside that steel drum as much as possible. if any suspended water is left in the oil then it will start to rust from the inside out.
you could always share what you have. i have some friends in greenville veggin' too.

We stored some in cubees for about a year w/ no problems. Shade spot and obviously out of the rain is big.

I drive the car much more in the summer to go to the beach.
I have lost most of my local contacts to a couple of biodiesel hogs with $$$

I dislike the dudes driving there 60K 07' F-350's and paying 2.00 per gallon to my sources
Just to say "I'm running biodiesel...how cool am I"....then they buy huge tires, commputer chip, and 6" exhaust. While they tow a monster boat.
Sorry didn't mean to rant...

I'm using more than I generate right now. I'm only getting 6 gallons per week (fryer is slowing down sice we got pizza so doesn't have to be changed twice/week) and I need about 10 gallons. I'm doing 350 miles each week and the 6 gallons isn't cutting it right now. I need to find a new small source here pretty soon.
I'm pretty sure I'm also going to find the places around me will be gone due to hogs with $$$.
Sucks biggest time.
