Please Help Id Tranny
In my search for a new engine for my (now heartless German girl) 1983 300D turbodiesel sedan I ran across a tranny that has an essentially unknown history (car t-boned, supposedly 68k miles on it) from a guy parting out a wreck. Only info I got was it was a '94 MB - the guy used to install tranny's (Not MB's - general) and says the bolt pattern is the same, MB didn't change tranny, etc. and he thought I should pick this up either "just in case" or to install anyway as blown engine (timing belt - v. ugly deal) is out and kinda WTF?? put in a new(er) tranny if you can. 150 bucks. So I bought it. It's in the passenger seat of my '92 Nissan Pathfinder. But I'm in a very isolated area, no one knows anything about MB's and I dont' know what I have.
So my hope is that someone can help me ID the tranny and advise if it will work with my 123 turbodiesel (when I find a replacement). "Mercedes Benz" is on the casing in several places. Other than that, this is what I've got: R 115 271 4201 D (or "0") 005 454 606 35.4734.00 (there may be other numbers here - external hardware obscures them if they are there). Any help/advice on this is GREATLY appreciated. Jon |
