My first tank of B99

Lawrence, Ks. Paid $3.79 a gallon for 18 gallons at a local biofuel only filling station. About 10 cents cheaper than DinoDiesel.

Performed normally for the 150 mile trip home. Inspected my newer primary fuel filter upon arrival, looks clean! I also got down on all fours and sniffed the tailpipe, only a slight aroma of diesel. I wonder what the neighbors thought? It seemed to run quieter at idle, too. It could be all in my head.

I guess I'm converted, but not driving out of my way to find one.

Doesn't it smell great?! Keep an eye on the filters. I was changing primaries daily for about four weeks. And in that time changed the spin-on twice and pulled the tank screen and cleaned the gunk off of it. I think my tank was especially cruddy. But the bio broke loose a bunch of crud on my sending unit, and now my fuel guage works properly. The idle is definitely quieter on bio--not your imagination. Also, keep an eye on fuel lines, especially the return lines on the injectors. I just replace them as they begin to weep. All but one have given up so far. Good luck!

Wish i could find B99 around my area. The best I have is B20 which i burn regularly. I do have the option of signing a contract and having the local facility place a 500 gallon tank in the back of my house. They can supply B100 in 250gallon shots and will supply the fuel pump and hose. Thinking about it but the thought of a big tank in my yard makes me cringe.

zipcode is 37043

Tyler,
Have you found any biodiesel in Wichita? Isnt there one in the Southeast part of town, somewhere?

This is the closest I could find. I'm calling them for my next fillup.

http://www.healybiodiesel.com/

I also need to look into hampel oil, they seem to only do fleet deals and b20, but at least they're in town.

You'll find that your motor runs quieter and cleaner. If you notice a slight drop in performance, you can advance your timing by 2*. B99 is the way to go! Once you try the best to hell with the rest, which is why most of us drive Mercedes Benz! Oh, keep an eye on those little hoses that collect the overflow from the injectors and return it to the pump. Get some cloth covered fuel line and keep it with you. These will need to be replaced periodically.

Good advice... I made sure all my old looking fuel lines and filters were replaced before I did this. The only thing I have to fear is the tank screen. Close to 200 miles so far.

Is there a reason to get the cloth covered lines rather than standard everyday fuel line from the auto parts store?

300 miles now. Getting some symptoms of fuel starvation, new filters are on the way. Let's hope its not the tank screen. My next tank will be good ol smelly dino diesel because I can't find a nearby source of the green stuff.

We mainly have B20 here due to the weather, but that should be changing shortly.

Whitey is still on the first tank of B20. Old Yeller got a tank of B10 at a truck stop in Colorado (I think) on the way back from Atlanta in November, and hasn't had anymore since. I didn't know where to buy the stuff locally until about a week ago. It's available now in Reno and Minden, both of which are a bit of a drive but not too far.

Oh, GREAT ! If any kids saw you, the rumor will spread.
"Didja hear ? So & so got a cheap high offa sniffin on a diesel."

So now if alla us diesel heads are stalked by highschoolers and college dopers, we will know where it all started
Kinda like eating periwinkle seeds to get the LSD out back in the 1960's. Trouble was, it would take about 6 tons of seeds to get an effective dose
