http://charlotte.craigslist.org/pts/625769728.html NO rust to speak of, parked for 7 years, tires badly cracked, MINE!!! bwoHAHAHA |
I have some experiance from living in the rust belt, Those forward unibody frame rails dent fairly easily, you should poke around abit to see how rusty they are, but i did 60K miles on one with some rust and dents, If they are rusted out, its a parts car.
A W126 and W123 are quite different in this area, A w126 uses High strength steel, From your description it does sound like someone used a jack in the wrong point, I would probably not worry to much about it if the rest of the car was solid. |
I saw this car in the salvage yard recently. Apparently the guy tried to change the oil himself, but wound up draining both the used oil and fresh oil. I wonder how far he made it before the engine seized. :(

Sounds like the price is too high. It would have to look and run almost like new for that kind of $$

Somebody's not reading the whole thread... or checking the dates.:D We passed on it.
Back in April, or whatever it was, prices for these cars a was still fairly high. The bubble has burst. :( |

Not only that, but I've been known to give my engine a "one quart oil flush". At least, I heard the oil coming out and got the plug in really fast. Granted, no crush washer until the next oil change. See? There is a real benefit to NOT working on a car with the music turned up loud. |
It was a black guy with a foreign accent I couldn't place. I met him once after he purchased the SD. I was waiting patiently for parts and he stormed in demanding his "warranty" issues be honored. He came in with a list from a mechanic after the purchase, and wanted Bob to fix it. It wasn't even Bob's car, it was his brother's who lives an hour North of here.
The list included "rust repair" and a number of ridiculous demands. He must have been intoxicated, because he got so belligerent at one point I briefly thought things would get violent. Bob was nice enough to give him the used parts the car needed, but obviously refused to do anything more. Its safe to say this guy is a moron. |
