Did euro W124 300D's have self leveling?? Look!

This is a craigslist ad I found for a 1986 EURO 300D (W124) with a naturally aspirated 603 in it....but in the pictures it would appear that it has a leveling system pump on the front of the engine...and the fluid reservoir is there too....is this true? I didn't know the sedans had this feature..... Car looks nice....I wonder if its still for sale....

Never seen one before....that'd be a rare and cool car to own. A N/A 603 must last just about forever!

I've seen a W123 sedan with SLS, so why not a W124?

x2....probably.

I believe it. As said before, the W123 sedan could have SLS, why not the W124?

Imagine how rare that 603 SLS head must be. I bet the head alone is worth the $3000.

No kidding....that is one rare car they have there. I wonder how many of those even exist in the USA......?

That car is owned by a forum member TTCummings or such, it was in the forsale section of this site.

Odd indeed. The SLS pump on the T124 is in the back of the PS pump, I've never seen a 124 with the pump on the head.

I'm not sure the head is worth anything, you'd have to find someone who needs one.

My 240D has SLS. It's really odd, but I have the original papers from the dealer. It's on there.

Don't mess up your head! Where would you ever be able to find another 616 SLS head?

For future reference when the ad goes away.

Yep, that belongs to a forum member. My 1980 Euro 300D had SLS too.

ok.. continuing on this...

my E300D...
it has ASD, no ASR
i'm gonna snap pics in the AM... but being a euro deliv prog. could i have SLS?
would i feel it while driving???
keep in mind... i'm new to 124's esp. diesels.

I test drove the car originally talked about in this thread, it rode nice.

Look in the rear of the car. If you see some round sphere things by the rear suspension with hard lines going to them you probably have SLS.

The round things are psi accumulators/dampers. they cushion the hydraulic pulsation that occurs during suspension travel. I know on BMWs with SLS, if the car rides like a brick in the back end thoes dampers are bad. Bimmers have the same ones. ;)

Euro delivery cars were full US spec. SLS was not an option in the US.

Most have the Euro roadside assistance decals.

As Sixto said above, and as others have stated in your recent posts about your new W124, Euro Delivery cars were not European models, not gray market cars. They were just ordered for pickup in Europe as at the time this would save thousands of dollars off the purchase price.
You do NOT have a Euro model!!!!

BTW, I looked at a car just the same as the original one that started this thread. Crappy cell phone pic of engine:

It also was a 5 speed.......
