Engine oil bypass kit seems too good to be true..

went to my autoparts store today and found a smoking hot blonde passing out flyers of this oil bypass filter kit... she claimed that diesel tests in trucks showed that with this system an engine can go 100k miles between oil changes... Yes 100k! I was too preoccupied staring at the bimbos chest to comment but I wanted to know your guy's input on this.. the website is http://fs2500.com/

In a more serious reply.... it may be a well-thought-out idea but the thought of running oil that long, regardless of how you did it, just sounds like a recipe for trouble to me.

Regular maintenance can accomplish the same engine prolongation as fancy trickery.

very true but in terms of cost, it may be more appealing. they cited many different semi trucks running in excess of 100k on the same oil bc this filter was so "good".. I would never do it to my baby but I was just amazed at thier claim..

I wouldn't use that. Oil doesn't need to be changed only because it gets dirty. It also needs to be changed because the various additives break down/ get "used up". These kits may save from that a bit, but probably not as much as they claim.

If the product is so great why do they need a hot chick to make you think with your pecker instead of your brain????

I have yet to see any one to date that is worth swapping my diesel for. Besides, wifies tend to frown upon dating others...as I would if she said she wanted to date someone else.

You change 1.5 qt. of oil with each filter change.. but I don't have time to find out how often they expect you to change your filter. If it's every 1000 miles, then yeah, you probably don't need to do extra oil changes beyond that.

The best reason to install a bypass oil system is to filter out the wear causing particles in the oil that are smaller than the 20-30 or so Microns that the full flow filters claim to filter out. I installed my own bypass filter system but misread the filter manufactures claim and it filters out I think it was 25% of the 2 Micron particles and absolutely all of the the 15 micron or larger particles (Baldwin B164 filter). I should have used one of the Amsoil filters EaBP90, EaBP100 or EaBP110 which claim to absolutely filter out 2 micron and larger particles. (But the smallest the EaBP is around $36 each.) I may change over to it later but I have not decided. Right now bypass oil goes through the stock filter bypass section and through the B164 bypass filter. I may break down and spend the money for a lab test on the oil and see how many 2 micron particles are floating around after being filtered twice.
Here is what I did and the thread has a site which explains the benifits. I made my own filter head but the Amsoil size filter heads are $28 or less on Ebay. The rest of the cost is hoses and brass fittings and that expensive Amsoil filter.
