envirosafe freon

I filled my 84 300 sd today with envirosafe.

The low side running at idle is 25 and the high side is 250.

air vent temps at 45 degrees ambient temp about 55 degrees.

those of you with hydrocarbon refridgerants does this sound normal?

the high side seems too high

flushed system,

6 oz gm oil

new drier

new expansion valve

pulled a vac of 15 for an hour

there does not seem to be much of a HP load on the car with ac on but envirosafe is known for this.

about 28 oz of envirosafe installed

am i alright to go?

Steve

OlBrenner,

I think your sig is particularly appropriate for this thread

Clarifying just to avoid offending, I was referring to your definition of sarcasm or IRONY

''What other regulations restrict the use and handling of hydrocarbon refrigerants?
In addition to the prohibition on use described above, and the federal law banning the venting of all refrigerants, there are also state and local statutes and regulations that relate to certain uses of hydrocarbons. As of the printing date of this fact sheet, EPA is aware that the following states prohibit the use of flammable refrigerants in automobile air conditioners: Arkansas, Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.''

From the archives....interesting.... Arizona is where knightrider is... Texas is where RLeo and JimmyL are...

No! Even though you are legally able to use Envirosafe in Massachusetts and your not going to get much help from this board. Most here who don't like refrigerants like Envirosafe will offer nothing but scorn and some misinformation. With that said, your not good to go! Your system should be cooling better than that and 28 oz is wayyyyy to much for these cars! It sounds like you didn't try to check out your system and nothing, including Envirosafe is a drop in replacement for R12!

You shouldn't have to put in more than 18 oz. max.

There is a restriction somewhere in your system and it's backing up in the high pressure side. I would suspect you have a bad expansion valve, that would be the first place I would look! If you got an expansion valve made in China, these are junk and should be avoided at all costs!

Refrigerants are not the safest chemicals, including Envirosafe AND R134A and if you are unfamilliar with the requirements and operation of an AC system, you may need professional help. Either your guages are off and reading incorrectly or something in your system is malfunctioning!

Where did you get your parts from?

Here are the correct temp and pressure guidelines to look for:
Ambient Temps Low side guage High side guage
65* 25-35 PSI 135-155 PSI
70* 35-40 145-160
75* 35-45 150-170
80* 40-50 175-210
85* 45-55 225-250
90* 45-55 250-270
95* 50-55 275-300
100* 50-55 315-325
105* 50-55 340-345

These are the proper settings and pressures for your system for R134A and Envirosafe is very similar, especially on the low pressure side. Several states, including Arizona have pushed back against the law for alternative refrigerants and here in this state you can get Envirosafe, but it is not marketed as a do it yourself item. Our state legislature decided to let the free market decide. Envirosafe is available in Arizona. I would not disclose your location or address on this forum to anyone anymore. There is such a rabid dislike for what you are doing that someone will likely turn those in states that will heavily prosecute you just for the fun of it and many members on this board cannot be trusted anymore.

Are you saying it is legal to use Envirosafe in an automobile Air Conditioning system in Arizona ?
Or just that you are claiming that since it CAN BE BOUGHT....you are willing to leave the impression that it is ok to use in mobile AC's ?

Perhaps you can enlighten me as to why you keep mentioning me in these Envirosafe threads.
I have one car on R134a, one car on Freeze12, and one car on R12.
And skunks under the house.......
