ALDA Boost Switchover Valve

I was driving yesterday and it felt like i had lost all of my boost so today poking around i tried to blow through the alda sw valve and coulden't blow through it so i bypassed it and boom it's fine now. My question is should i just go find another valve or could something else cause the valve not to work?

I've cleaned that switch by blowing WD-40 through it.

Please post year and model.

If you lost it all of a sudden then there may be a problem with your turbo making too much boost.

Check your boost pressure asap.

You might disconnect the overboost switch on the intake manifold temporarily. (With the switchover valve connected.) If there is no change, it's probably time for a new switchover valve.

His profile indicates he has an '82 300SD, so it's a 617 motor. The switchover valves have 3 ports, make sure you're blowing through the correct ones. Solvent and compressed air may clean it out, but if not, replace it (used ones are often available cheap at Pick & Pull yards). Disconnecting the electrical connector will tell you if the problem is electric or mechanical, though.
