How much fuel should flow out of the fuel return port (87 300D)?
87 300D.
My car is setup with a dual fuel system (WVO and Diesel with dual tanks). The fuel runs through the same stock filter. On cold days, I am having trouble. The car starst fine, but in a couple of blocks to a mile down the road, the car stops and will not start because of fuel starvation. When the car is hot or it is warm outside, no troubles, except when switching to diesel fuel, when it stammers. Yesterday, after having the no start problem, I pulled the return fuel hose end, put the hose in a jar, then the car started fine and quickly in diesel! The quart jar filled up in 10 seconds! Q1: Is that high fuel-volume-return-flow correct? Or, should the return fuel flow be just a trickle? Q2: If the filter is clogged, does it blow or divert the fuel out through the fuel return hose? Q3: Should there be zero back pressure from the fuel tank on the fuel return line? I blew on the return fuel line hose and it seemed to require quite a bit of pressure to move the fuel into the diesel tank. Thanks for your help.

You will need to look in the manual for the Fuel Supply pump output. At idle the return fuel should be only slightly less than the output of the Fuel Supply pump.

do some research on a looped return.
this is what i have and it works great basically you loop your return back into the suction before the lift pump it keeps the oil hotter and cuts down on the amount of fuel drawn through the filter filters plumbed before your lift pump seperate filters for diesel and veg oil Steve
