300SD intermittent power loss

Have a 1983 300 SD with 214000 miles. I am third owner and have had the car for about 3 years. My wife drives it. Travels about 200 miles per week. Good milage, starts and shifts well. Recently put in new glow plugs and relay, along with fuel filter(s).

On a regular basis with her driving it loses power and will not pull at speed. She pulls off road and turns off engine, restart and drives fine? I have driven and taken back to mechanic that did the work and I have delt with for many years. Neither he nor I can get the car to have the problem. Have driven 20-30 miles with no problem.

Did not have the problem prior to relay, glow plugs and new filters.

She experiences the problem almost every time she drives it? Today in less than 4 miles problem occured?

At first I thought it was just her or she was getting the carpet pad bunched up under the acc pedal. I keep checking the carpet and it is not bunched up under pedal.

No fuel leaks. Fuel line clamps are tight. Lines appear good.

I am inclined to replace lines and filters again to see if problem clears up. Any other items I need to look at?

New to forum, checked out old posts to see if this problem was out there. Many close but none the same (intermittent). The issue of me driving and never having the problem is perplexing. If it is a vaccum leak, it cannot know I am driving. She drives slow and steady, no rapid acceraltion. I put the pedal down and no problem?

Like diesels. Have a FORD Excursion with 7.3 and 260000 miles. Looking for another MB diesel, a 300 SD or something close.

Appreciate the help!
