Engine & Trans interchangability

My current progect is converting my 95' Jeep Wrangler to diesel. My plan is to use an OM603 just like the one in my 87' 300SDL and a manual 5 speed transmission from a 190E. I'm a machinist, so I can make the adapter between the transmission and the NP231 transfer case.

Before I start dumping money into this, I wanted to consult the wise guru's here at Mercedesshop.com.

Will a 190E manual transmission bolt to an OM603 6cyl turbo disel. If not, what manual transmission will? What is the specific model number I should be shopping for?

Eric

I believe that tranny will bolt to a 603.

It appears that there is a lack of interest or a lack of knowlege on this subject. Looks like I'll have to find out for sure the expensive way. I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks,
Eric

Neither a lack of interest nor knowledge. Simply a lack of spare time and experience (and funds, in my case)

Yes, I think it will bolt up.
