Dieselhead trying to work with new Neighbors--Two Orange Safety Cones sure helped!

I had my cars up for service this weekend on jackstands. Last month I found one orange safety cone when I ran it over and a friend gave me another. I cleaned them up nice and shiney and repainted them.

When I had my car jacked up and stands to rotae tires I set them down at the tail end of the driveway to warn any kids or the mailman who wandered up the driveway.

Just a small thing. Maybe next I will get some overalls.

Don't forget to put little flashing light on them.

You need a set of these.

How are things in the new gneighborhood (the 'g' is silent)? Have the folks accepted your mechanical ways? Do they bring their lawn mowers for you to fix or do they picket your house when you work in the driveway, with or without cones.

Seriously, the cones are a good idea and may help bring you acceptance.

This year I leaned. Watch out for the "yappers", or the "gossips". Its not that bad, though. This is a middle class neighborhood, lots of electricians and the like. Most people have "shops" in their garage.

Did you mean overalls.....as in with a bib front and the "air-conditioning" buttons on the side?

Or were you talking about coveralls?

The saddest part of this story is not having to pander to automotively illiterate neighbors by being overly cautious. The sad part of this story is that you're having to protect the "kids" who are growing up without the benefit of common sense lessons like "How to Recognize Jacked Up Cars and The Dangers Involved Therewith"

It's depressing that we have to be so "correct" in things to protect people from not being taught more responsibility.

I'm not saying I think accident prevention is a bad thing. But I strongly feel that part of accident prevention is instilling some common sense and practicality, no matter what the environment is. The truth is, some of these kids who are being sheltered from the real world are now, just barely, the kids of individuals who were likewise sheltered.

I agree wholeheartedly! (The slip-n-fall lawyers don't want this information to get out though.)
