Hey winmutt.

I don't have one, but I bet one of the 300TD in the boneyard has one. You want me to pull one for you?

Is the rear bar larger than the sedan too?

winmutt 04-24-2008 10:17 AM

Nope. Rear bar is only larger in special issue wagons, police vehicles and limos. I have the SD bar on now and its to large as you know however the handling is drastically improved. To bad it squeaks so badly. I am going to make my own 15mm rear bar, if I can come under $100 I'll be happy.

you putting it in your sedan? I got a new one from the stealership for $220 a year and a half go. the dollar was a lot stronger then, but the price may be close??

Heh you got robbed. My price is like $120, $150 with the bushings.....

Hows the ride?

Dealer price

Lancaster Mercedes just quoted me $468 for a front W123 sway bar. They said there are 6 left in the country.

well for that price why would u consider going thru all that labor to put in a used part???? if you want to save a buck, I can send you my old sway- it just needs new ends. yours for shipping;) $30 for bushings is getting robbed.....

and I bet that is the price for a sedan..........

I may have paid a bit more than I could have- but I was waiting on another source for 2 weeks while my daily driver was out of service- I called a local dealership- they had my parts in 36 hours.

the car rides great. at this point, all new bushings front and rear, new bils(comforts for me!), new(used) accumulators, new michelins........ a huge improvement over where I bought it.

I drive a touring sedan,BTW...

winmutt 06-03-2008 12:20 PM

That was the price new. I ordered the 15mm after the 13.5 got sent first (having to eat cost on that). FInal price was ~$170 w shipping from classic parts. There are 2 left in the world.......

Actually there are 0 left in the world.

There were initially 4. You ordered one, I ordered one and soon after you posted on STD two more people ordered one as well.

winmutt 06-03-2008 03:12 PM

Well there you have it.

My TD bar is going into the car this weekend, 15mm rear sway is going in then as well.

daw_two 06-03-2008 05:15 PM

Anyone want a used one? I'll ATTEMPT to pull it.

winmutt 06-03-2008 05:25 PM

It was pretty easy but takes two people. To get the sway bar off the UCA you have to pop the UCA off the spindle and pray the shock holds the spring as it should.

mobetta 06-04-2008 01:19 AM

Well I am glad I got mine before you hot-rodders all snapped them up.:P

I wrapped a 6' ratchet strap up around the bumper mount (or something up there)and pulled the UCA forward. I did not separate it. managed by myself.. did that on the same day as my first valve job- about 8.5 hours total.

If i was pulling anything at a junkyard, I would drop the front spindle and pop the springs out w/ a long bit of muffler pipe or something. better to do that then have them get out of control. then you can bring home more parts's.

Winmutt- post an update on your handling when you get it installed.
