Better to ask in a Chevy forum, not a Mercedes forum.

I do not know what make of turbo that you have on your vehicle or your level of skill at fixing things. Some people are able to rebuild their turbos themselves. Also you might think it is only a problem with worn seals but you will not know for sure until you take your turbo apart.
You need to locate a source of a Rebuild Kit. Also after they are cleaned up the turbine wheel and the compressor wheel are assembled and sent out to be rebalanced. When you install the turbine and compressor wheel on the turbo the compressor wheel must be aligned exactly in the same place it came off the shaft or it will be out of balance. Use the search feature above and you may locate a more detailed rebuild thread. In addition there is alot of diesel pickup truck forums that might be able to give you better information. Also if you are not up to rebuilding your own turbo you can remove the exhaust and compressor housing and buy an exchange center section assembly. I do not know if this would be cheaper than a whole exchange turbo or not you will have to do some price checking. There are several turbo rebuild kit suppliers on Ebay but I cannot say if what they sell is of good quality or not.

I don't even think there is a 6.9 gm diesel.

That would be the 6.5, the 6.9 was Ford's engine.
