universal joint for 85 300 CD
Well, here we go again. The universal joint needs replacing on my 85 CD. As usual MB, instead of making a yoke with c-clips or bolts has staked the u-joint in. Tried to find replacement joint online, MB, local auto parts store, no luck. Some one must make a replacement joint. One guy in the tech forum said he got the joint from NAPA but I can't find a listing for it. Anybody got a manufacturer and Part #?

If you search, I remember long ago hearing about someone from here using one from a Ford Fairmont (or Fairlane, I can't remember). I believe it took a bit of surgery, but it worked...

I had these guys shorten my driveshaft when I put the turbo engine in my 240D. They installed a rebuildable U-joint as part of the work.

Nobody should EVER buy anything from Mercedes$ource. |
I bought the hardline to the ALDA from them. $24 plu$ thier $hipping charge$.
Then I found the same material at my local hardware store. It was 15 cents a foot. I will buy nothing from Mercede$ $ource unless they are the ONLY place to get a needed part. |
Are you sure it`s your U-Joint? It might just be your center support or the bearing.
I thought mine was bad, but it turned out to be the bearing. I have 338000 on my drive line and original U-Joint. How many miles do you have on your CD? Charlie ☺ |
