Drop the driveshaft and have it winched onto a rollback.. I've had cars with no suspension winched on, they don't care.

You didn't like what you heard?

Why the second post on this same question? You won't get any better answers this time around.

He wants to drive a hotwired and wrecked car across several states? He also would rather drive home across a few states to get a key instead of paying the local dealer 25 buck for a new key? My guess is the the wrecker driver won't load a car without a key, I know I wouldn't. Smells like rotten fish.

I doubt this person even owns the car. The local dealer could have a new key for him in two days max, of course one has to show id and proof of ownership. If he bought the car from John Smith and there is no title he is sol.

you should probably tow it anyway.

Not that it helps his situation any. Having the key would definitely be easier than the alternative described.

Hold the phone...Are you telling me that a locksmith can't remove the ignition and make a key same day? And that mercedes dealers keep records of key patterns based on VIN# and can ship a key to a licensed dealer? Guess I better go ahead and order me one and put it in a safe deposit box.

I guess that was my bad, I saw he had 4 posts when the thread started so i assumed he just joined. I didnt see how it would help him to be able to "start" the car since he couldnt drive it.

If you had to just start the engine, you can do it from the engine bay easily, pull the vac shutoff line, jump the glow relay, and jump the starter,

mmm i dunno about that. Wouldn't the lift pump still be off? I think you need to get it into accessory mode one way or another

Nope, just the mechanical pump.

Why not just go to the closest dealer and buy a key for about $20?

So now, Im trying to figure out how to bypass the ignition circuit and start the car directly off the battery.

Once it starts, Im sure I can keep it going by disconnecting the vacuum that controls the diesel shut off.

Any ideas are very welcome. Thanks everyone.
I have some ideas, but I can't type them here. You were already given several remedies to your "problem".

ha

ok, so I just drove back to nashville and got the key and then came back up. 10 hours on the road, but since I left my title in nashville along with the key, I had no proof that I owned the car, and since I live alone, there was no way to ship it. Im starting a new thread about this car. LOok for "should I drive this?"
