Just had my fuel tank steam cleaned...leftover water?
Just got my tank back from the radiator shop - I had it steam cleaned as PM for running bio. There was a lot of gunk in there! My gauge sender had a huge slug of gunk...
Anyways, to re-install, the tech mentioned tossing dri-gas in there just in case there is any leftover water. Is there a diesel equivalent? Or should I just hook up a shop vac and let it blow the water out for four hours and not worry about it any further? Should I do both? Follow up - the rubber pads on the bottom of the tank around the vent and main line holes are coming off. The old adhesive turned into gelatin goo. What would be a good adhesive to tack these back on with (rubber to metal)? Anyone encounter this in the past? Thanks - finally almost running bio... dd

toss 1/2 bottle of 90% iso rubbing alcohol in there and shake the tank around really well, then use the vac to blow through the tank for an hour... that ought to do it. not sure on the adhesive to use...

I would just leave it open in the sun for a few hours. The tiny amount of water that is in there will just be collected by the spin-on fuel filter anyway...
I would try a shoe-goo or something for the pads.
