New bad noise....
Coming from the rear. It's kind of a pulsation as the wheel spins at certain speeds. Causes a vibration too. Not violent but certainly present. My next step was to replace the rear wheel bearings so I'm wondering if it could be a bad bearing. Possible? How would I know if my bearimng went bad. I'm hoping it's not the axle. The axles have seemed to be fine so I don't think it's spinning improperly but I don't know....Any ideas?

Ok not a bearing. I just called a mercedes mechanic and he said it was probably the start of an axle going bad. He said until it starts feeling a lot worse that I shouldn't worry or feel unsafe driving it. Sound like good advice?

You might also want to have a look at your intermediate driveshaft bearing (also known as the carrier bearing). I believe when it starts going bad it is known to produce a low "thrumming" sound at certain (highway) speeds... ?

If that turns out to be the problem should I not be driving or is it not a huge cause for concern?

the answer is that if you have the money, fix it. If you dont, drive as little as possible.

Well my mechanic said if this is the first of the axle noise that I have a good long ways to go before it gets a lot worse. I can and will replace my axles but it would be nice if I could wait a month because of money issues. I drive about 25 miles a day....
