Vacuum diagram (or helpful tips) for '80 300CD needed
if you know where to find one, please help!
This thing is a non-USA car, if that matters. (btw, I have been through the sticky and DIY and numerous search threads...they either don't resemble mine and/or don't label all the numbered parts...)

i think i have searched everywhere to no avail.
if someone with a '80 could help me out with a description I would be most grateful. All I really need is the routing from the main vacuum supply to the tranny modulator.

Well I have a 1980 300cd, and I've fixed all of it's vacuum issues through trial and error and mityvac. What problems are you having?

rkohut, a pic would be most appreciated.
derburger, my problems are harsh shift, especially 1st to 2nd, and flaring - and a hack job done on the vacuum lines. I have a mityvac which tells me there is good vacuum supply, and the modulator holds vacuum. But the 3/2 valve on the valve cover is disconnected, the egr is disconnected, the tranny modulator line is hooked direct to the vacuum supply, the attachment on th IP which I have read should be attached is not, and the green dashpot is nowhere to be found. So, its been bubble-gummed together and I have no way to tell how it should be, as intended. A diagram, or pics, or any advice would really help.

Hey Charlie,
That would be a blast! What fun it would be to have a stick in one of these beasts... Thanks Rkohut, it looks like I better hook up that valve on the valve cover. It seems like the other line on the same "Y" as the tranny line goes to the vacuum source, but I cant see that, it shoots off the bottom of the pic. Where does the other (solo, closest to the air filter) line on the 3/2 valve go , looks like to the thing on the top of the IP? Do you also have one of those green inline dashpot dealies? I better get to the local upull it and see if I can source some of those connectors and whatnot...

Thank you so much!
Now it all makes sense; I will get to the car this afternoon and see if I can plumb her correctly. I really appreciate your help here

Never let it be said that you are not the Man !! You are the Man! Thanks heaps for puttin those pics up, super helpful. I have incorporated that valve cover switch back into the mix; and it looks right now. We shall see if it changes life for the better. I see no sign of that green dashpot, so it's time to stop concerning about it. I figure there isn't much else to do except tinker with the modulator.

Now it is your turn. Just take a gander at those diagrams. The one which might correspond to my car has absolutely minimal information and is clearly not my application- for example, it shows a "vacuum control valve" (which does not exist on my car, the thing on the IP, which in my case has 2 vacuum lines, not the 4 they show). Not to mention its archaic undecipherable manner.... So, this is not my vacuum diagram. Given the fact that MBZ changed their configurations often, a generic "300 series" diagram is just not enough for most here I am guessing; and way too general a statement (just like a "check the archives" ploy All kidding aside, and I bet many will agree with me, we should put together a list of diagrams, by year, for the most usefulness.
