It is sad when................

I kick myself for not filling up my 300SD last night for $4.41 a gallon. The price went up .10 cents overnight to $4.51! Which is by far the cheapest diesel around. Some want as high as $4.89!
Sorry for posting another ranting thread about high diesel prices!(LOL)

Around here its between 4.49 and 4.69, with most stations at 4.59

Our local WalMart (Murphy station) finally got diesel at the pumps and was $4.19 yesterday. It's $4.16 if you use a shopping card -- that's $.13 cheaper than the next cheapest place in town. Hate to shop at WalMart, but that's hard to beat.

You are right in line with us out here on the left coast. a few days ago it was $4.49 / $4.79 / $4.89. we`ll see later on the day when we venture down off the mountain into civilation.

I heard of rumers of $7.00 fuel prices and more . we`ll see as summer travel comes into full swing.

This topic comes up quite often since it digs so deeply into the cashflow. I think as the fuel cost goes up, and miles driven ea month go down, it will put less wear and tare on our cars. so then there will be less discussion on how to repair such & such, and the only thing left to talk about is fuel pricing.

I`ll sit on my front porch in my rocker drinking coffee, dunking my granola bars in it, and watching my fleet slooooly rust away. It will be the only enjoyment left in life, since it will be toooo expensive to do anything else.

$4.60 now, its going to take a C note to fill the SDL.

If I didn't care about my credit I would just fill out one of those credit card offers that they keep sending me, get a card with like a $5k limit and rack it up to the max with fuel while paying the minimum payment. Than throwing it away.

I believe we are approaching the tipping point for diesel cars and wvo. If the cost of fuel continues to rise, more and more older diesel mercedes are going to be converted to run on wvo. I don't think I'm ever going to find a decent wagon at an affordable, sane price.

I saw on the lunchtime news where oil dropped 2 or 3 bucks... still high, but not AS high. If we're lucky, it may have peaked (for now). Doubtful, but possible.

The high oil prices are temporary. Yes, they will be permanently highER than they were in the past, however the rising price of oil is/will be driving new drilling and more refineries as places that were unprofitable to drill at $30/barrel are VERY profitable to drill at $100/barrel. So there are two bits of good news about ridiculously high oil prices:
1) They drive more supply, meaning they'll go lower again.
2) They drive new technology. You'll continue to see fuel efficiency in cars and trucks get better and better, and not because of Al Gore's global warming horses**t, but because of market demand.

I feel sorry for the millions of people that heat their homes with oil. They face a potentially horribly expensive next winter.

I think there is now occurring a long term monetary disconnect between transportation type fuels and other energy sources.

The "cheap" place in town just went up to $4.499, was $4.209 yesterday. Looks like I picked the right time to add a gas burner to the fleet.
