Went back in time..positive results...

The Alpine MP3/CD/WMA player in my car was awesome....tilt face, great quality et al...

But the working Becker Europa II in my basement looked great and worked great...

So I went backwards and installed it today.. I love it!

The sound is "more period" and I love the mechanic station selection. Everything works great, and the sensitivity of the dial allows me to zero in on particular stations.

The cost? 4 dollars for two DIN connectors.

Update!

Some fabricating for IPOD connectivity..

Pinout on the rear:
>pin1 audio ouput from radio
>pin2 audio input into radio
>pin3 audio shield -
>pin4 12volt + output
>pin5 chassis ground -
>pin 6 open

Need to create a wire to run from original to obscure location (Ash tray??) so my IPOD shuffle can play.

I want to do the same thing. I have a old Sony headunit in right now, looks for a good Europa II to install. I know the Europa doesn't put out much power, but how is the bass on it?

Nah Cervan, you've got cup-holders in yer 240D w123 located flip side of glove box door, 2 of em perfect soda/beer can size. All ye gotta do is be able to drive without soda/beer can falling over. And with 240D bein incredibly slooow - thats easy to do.

That would probably include not hitting trees.
