What's the best AC compressor for R134a & parallel flow?
I'm ordering a parallel flow condenser and related parts, but I think I need a compressor as well. At some point the car had a R12 substitute put in, (R415? don't quote me on that..), and there's dye all over the clutch and around the front shaft seal. Oh, and that substitute? Entirely leaked out.
So my question is, what's the best replacement compressor if I'm using R134a in this new system? |
Hodyon (Hancock industries) new compressor. Make sure you flush out the old gunk. Also replace the expansion valve and dryer. Use BG Frigiquite oil that you can get for around $12 for 8 oz., from your local BG rep, or get the thicker GM rated oil, as the R-4 is a GM design.

If you are going/staying with R-134, I like the Seltec universal compressors. Not sure how well it would replace an R-4 compressor though.

You can get an R4 style compressor from Mapco that will fit right in just like the original. All hoses, mounts and bolts line up just like the R4!:D
