190 non-turbo
Hi guys, new here anyway i have a 87 190 non-turbo my6 wife drives in the summer. i've never had it on the highway before. i took it this weekend on the 401. where should this car rev at 120kms(about 70 mph) this one was at 3100 which seems to me is way high. i've had cummins in dodge since they came out, im very familiar with off road diesels to, just seems to me this car shouldnt rev that high. it is Automatic, anyway thanks for any thoughts you guys have on this

I'm not too familiar with the 190D but that does not sound too unreasonable. These engines rev much higher than truck or offroad engines. Redline is probably quite a bit north of 5000 RPM.

Sounds right for a Non Turbo 190....it doesn't have all that much power so it makes up for it with a high gear ratio...= high freeway rpms. My SD runs 3150 at 70mph.....perfectly normal.

revs 190D 2.5
Revs are right on - engine gets noisy around 2900 rpm and then around 3100 it get a bit quiter again. For example my wife drives a L-Series Saturn and the
engine revs are much lower. Sold the 190D and now one with 2.5D turbo. Engine revs also fairly high Quote:
