4cylinder and 5 cyilnders both interchange starters. 6cyilnders interchange starters but will not fit any 4 or 5 cylinders. (starter is on the opposite side of the engine)

The 83 is the same as the 85.

The 240D had a weaker starter than the 300s. Not sure if the turbo starter is different from the non turbo 300.

So it sounds like i can take either the 81300d starter or a 83 300d euro starter and put it on my 85 300sd turbo. Right?
