Diesel SEC Done (sorta)

Hi guys, some of the followers of my diesel sec build have been dying for an update, so here it is, The car is driving under her own power. It drives well but the following issues need to be resolved.

It is alittle slow off the start, The rear gear in my sec might be a 2.24, or 2.47, so it is alittle slow off the start.

There is currently no speedometer/ odometer.

The tach is not working yet.

The 240D shift boot will not work. something else will have to be purchased or made.

The 4spd manual shifts well, and the driveshaft and clutch dont seem to be unbalanced.

Stay tuned for pics tomorrow, ill try to get some 0-60 estimates with my GPS.

Recap: 1984 500 SEC Euro, with 85 300 SD motor, 82 240 D 4spd manual. Lots of custom pieces, lots of work. almost done.

it runs and drives well,

sounds cool, i would like to someday pick up a SLC and swap in a diesel.

BTW, have you had it on the highway? Whats your RPM at 60 MPH? is takeoff unmanagable or just slower than you like? i want to do the 4spd with 2.47's and but im not worried about fast takeoffs, i want the lower top end rpm more than the 0-60 performance.

Nope! 300SECD! or at least that's my vote....LOL!
Good Job. With Gas (and Diesel) prices as high as they are right now. I thought about maybe doing the same swap someday...either that of maybe buy a horse and rig a setup to tow the SEC....LOL!

As a "300SECD" it would mean: "300 engine, S class, Gasoline Engine, Coupe, Diesel Engine."

300SDC is correct.

300SDC is correct.
Needs a "300SDC" badge - or "300SCD" on the trunk left side a la the 300CD W123 ones; On the right side = "TURBODIESEL" badge - (plenty of them in breakers yards in nice shape.)

Perfect.

Nice nice job. It looks so beautiful and period correct in the the AMG Euro looking iteration, with those wonderful looking Euro bumpers and those covetable Penta wheels.

Luscious.

This made me recall an earlier discussion here:

"Why would any one put a Diesel engine in an SEC? That would be like cutting its balls off.

"I know what you mean, my exwife did that to me!! lol

That is a 300SEC no ifs and or buts. With a diesel engine. And I got a chuckle out of the "T" that got thrown on one of those.
Looks nice, btw.

300SECD or 300sec with a turbodiesel badge on the right. I have a spare turbodiesel badge if you need one.

Get a 300SD badge and graft the C end of the 500SEC onto it.

I don't care if you put a "marty" tag on the back, that thing looks AWESOME! i have wanted to make one since I first saw a 380SEC around here... if I ever find one with a bad motor or just a really good price, I will snatch it up and do this very thing.
that front bumper looks SOOOO good.
