Which mityvac to purchase?

1981 300SD - I got sidetracked from tracking my door lock vac problem but am back on the case. You all say that I need a mityvac.

There are several versions of the mityvac on Froogle.com - 4000 series, 5000 series, etc. Which one should I purchase? I generally like to purchase slightly above my current needs just in case I need the tool for something more complicated in the future - so I am not looking for the cheapest version.

Thanks for the assistance.

Buy the metal version (more rugged) and the version that can do both pressure and vacuum (pressure allows you to test things associated w/turbo boost). "Model 04050 Silverline Plus" is what I got. It includes a kit of adapters that I have found very handy.

The metal one is also rebuildable while the plastic one is a throw away model.

I got the US General one from Harbor Freight. It works great, but pay for the shipping. Free shipping takes 2 weeks +.

Or, you could buy the plastic version for about $30 bucks, which would be about the cost of the above shipping back and forth. Or were you gonna have them pay the shipping too.........
