Help needed in Western Louisiana

Hope someone out there can lend a hand....

I have a soldier here in NC that has a 1979 300D, but it may have transmission issues. We are not totally sure.

Is there someone out there that could stop by and take a quick look at this Benz to see how bad off it is?

It is located in the Leesville area. Our plan is to try and get it out here in NC before the soldier has to deploy.

And ideas and help is appreciated.

Thanks.

I am in Shreveport (area), it's probably about 3-3.5 hours away, and I'm not going to have the time to get out of town any time soon. If you guys can swing up this way, I would be glad to take a look.

What kind of symptoms are you having?

The problem is that the soldier is here in NC, and cannot get to the car. His grandfather has it.

The only thing that he says it that it needs an "adjustment". Of course we all know that could mean just about anything.

If we can get an idea on what is going on with it, we will have it shipped. We are basically trying to find out if it is worth shipping.

Having personally been to the Ft Polk/Leesville area, I understand there are not a lot of MB types there LOL..

Drove my Greasecar to FT Polk a couple of months ago for a meeting. Great crawfish and that's about it!

By "needs adjustment", I suspect his grandfather may be talking about harsh shifting. This may likely to be due to a vacuum leak. If it is shifting through all the gears, but harshly, then the tranny should be workable.

Hopefully, someone chimes in that lives nearer.

Where at?

My brother has a route thru Leesville every weekday evening. It is usually after dark when he finishes his delivery. Can you tell me more about the location? Is it close to the main highways? Hwy 171 or Hwy 28? KRW
