From site description
Mercedes (OE)/Pierburg
Vacuum Valve; 3-Way Switchover Valve with 3 Vacuum and 2 Electrical Connections
Multiple use relay for EGR, fast idle, transmission control, shift-point, starting booster, manifold pressure compensator, air pump, etc. Please verify appearance and connections of existing unit prior to ordering.

I believe this is for the vac control for the heater vents?

Is this on your 84 SD with a 617 engine?

I removed all the vacuum lines from the black box on my 617 which removes the EGR function. Replaced the Y connectors on the driver side of engine with straight connectors (keep the orifice!). Car runs and shifts better with no negative effects.

Is it needed? Because my vac lines that goes to that was removed and broke one of the connection nipple, should i buy another one??? And about that black box, so that is not needed, so basicly just remove those 2/3 valve things, and rerout the vac line, right

There is a better thread. Do a search for EGR removal. I left the box in place as it seemed to tie in to the throttle assembly. I removed all the lines to the box, and the EGR.
