Help!-selling car needs fixing
Hey can anybody help me with an issue I have with my front brakes and determining mileage?
1978 300D. My front right brake pad sounds like it's hitting the rotor at every rotation, but only after I've been using the brakes a lot(downhill, freeway offramp, etc). Warped rotor? I had stuck pistons so I put in new calipers, changed brake fluid and new pads. Any suggestions how to fix this? I'm trying to sell the car due to an overseas move. Also, I'd like to figure out exactly how many miles are on the car. Someone installed an exchange engine assembly, hoses, starter, and mounts at 145,101 miles (now 221,083 miles). Can I assume this engine was new? Or did it have miles on it? |

What sound does a pad make when hitting a rotor? Please clarify.
As for the milage, how can anyone determine whether the engine was new or not? The only way would be to determine the installer, and try contacting them, or to magically find a reciept...

Or wheel bearing. Does it wobble when braking? If not its probably the bearings. And those are no fun. Dry ice will get those bearing races right out.

No wobble-bearings? Why does it make the sound after braking a bunch? Thanks for the tip. Do I need to do both sides?

Can this be bad alignment? The insides of my front tires are very worn, so obviously, I need alignment, but could this be leading to a noise at the front right wheel after a hard brake?
