Wet Floorpan (Yes I searched!)

The 300d is having some water issues, but I can't tell from where. (suprise suprise)

I tested the hood hinge drain and sunroof drain with a large pot of water, and not a drop reached the floor pan. The only other common leak area I could try is the windshield, but I'm not sure how to test that.

The water is localized to the area around the accellerator. The pad is soaked around it, and bone dry everywhere else. Is it common for water to come up from this area? Any tips on stopping it?

As you can tell, my floorpans are in very good shape, but you can see the dampness.

Windshield or maybe a missing plug or grommit in the fire wall.

Your asphlat floor pads seem to be in good shape, but they do not rust. It's hard to tell about the floor pans under them: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=218755&highlight=asphalt

Kind of a longshot, but, check the drain for the evaporator. Take off the passenger side knee panel and reach waaaay up in there on the centerline of the car. Good chance it will crumble into powder when you touch it. You can southern engineer a replacement out of the top of a plastic water bottle.

The reason I say it's a longshot is because water from there usually ends up behind the drivers seat.

What you have could also be a windshield gasket leak.

Palangi may be correct.
Pulling the forward console wall off will possibly reveal the problem. A small rubber tube drops from the condensor/evaporator pan through the "hump" and out near the tranny about two to three inches. The tip of the tube at the tranny location is kinda pinched. This gets clogged sometimes, and water will back up into the cabin.

I've had both recently. My windshield seal on the wagon was leaking. Badly. But the water would run down the A-pillar onto the hood pull and e-brake handle. Of course, that was a leak right at the corner. It could leak anywhere and that would put it in different locations.
Another one I've had in the past, and yesterday I found out the Squash has it currently, is the leaking evap drain as mentioned above. It seems to mostly leak down on the driver's side even though it is in the middle. Pulled out a rubber mat from the driver's side Friday and found the carpet wet underneath. Since it hasn't rained and I'd been using the AC a lot, it must be the evap drain. And it can put down a ton of water too.......

I'm guessing the evaporator drain is to blame, since I don't drive my 300d in the rain much. I will know for sure on Monday when I run my errands for work. I surely would have noticed it before if it was rain related.

Bite me

Okay, okay, so you've Searched what, where? I cannot believe this topic is not right on top...

There are at many, many, many posts wrt wet floorboards, Leaks, water, etc.... oh well, at least you've gotten a very good response relative to condenser drain tube disintegration which is the most likely culprit for the source of your moisture...

Nope, I'm NOT REALLY GRUMPY... I'm just jealous that your AC unit is working well enough to cause your problem and mine has finally decided to start going south...and summer ain't even started good yet...

Oh, that reminds me... what the hey is meant by that reference to "southern engineeering"? That's a good thing, right? Kinda like "making the most with what you have"...that's what's so cool with these 20-30 year old benz's. These dayum old cars just never stop going...and going...and going...

Good luck grasshopper

Motor on

The W126 has a drain under the cowl that will leak and deposit the water on that exact spot. I know the W123 is different, whats under those grills below the windsheild?

That is one gremlin I believed I solved on my 87 wagon... those foam/spring condensate drains from the ac looked OK but when I touched them, they desintegrated into crumbly pieces of foam and a spring... of course I never expected the flood that was lurking within ... just what are people replacing those with? I still reed to vacumm out the drain holes and wash out what I can reach of the evaporator... just to make sure that there is no more crud still in there that can block the drains

You can order new evap drain lines from Fastlane or the dealer; I just changed both on my W126 because the drivers side was leaking.

That fix was originally invented by an engineer from Georgia (Engatwork, Jim), therefore it really is certified "Southern Engineering".

Bama's senior member bullying makes me feel stupid and not wanted; I'm never posting her AGAIN!

Not really. I did search and learned of the common areas for leaks, but being the young inexperienced person I am, I thought I could be in the vast minority and have something truly special.

I guess I don't have very many problems with either of my cars. So, when I actually do, I want to talk about it.

Thanks for the link, body art. You have good search kung foo.

Oh, my car won't shut off, do you think its vacuum related?
