Custom block, custom crank, custom IP, custom manifolds, ... where does it end? You're basically creating a whole new engine with existing pistons and rods, not sure the counter-flow heads of the 61x lend themselves to a V configuration either, so possibly custom heads.

good luck welding 2 cast iron blocks together. Even so, matching their angles to the crankshaft to have perfectly balanced engine would never happen. How do you plan on machining the the main hold-downs for the crank?

you would be much further ahead putting each engine on its own axle.

or having an entire block cast to your specs.

Chain or gear the flywheels together and make an H-10.

^^ that would cause issues with mating system unless they are mated via fluid (like an auto trans). I doubt he is going to find to equally opertaing 617's from 198x.

How about selling me one of these 'hobby' engines?

Go for a custom crankshaft and make a straight 10! That would be cool (and long) In any case I bet getting the two IPs and two turbos to work together would be a nightmare...

Just connect them end-to-end and make a I-10, you might have to extend the hood a little.

Its been done before with extreme power sled pullers so it should be possible with two 120hp engines.

No reason you couldn't do something like below vvvv

"Where there's a will, there's a way."

You might get it to work, but there's little chance you'll get it to fit in your engine compartment.

Heres whacha do. Remove the heads and put the blocks togather so the pistons meet in the middle making an OP (opposed piston) engine like the old "Fairbanks Morris" (sp?) marine engines. You would save quite a bet not having heads

V8, a tad easier but still a ton money is required...and sorry engine is not for sale keeping it for a other benz that dont have engines or if my engine goes, pop!

So it would be like a very weak M120, or a the newer bi turbo 12 running on one bank.
