Whining Noise Increasing with RPM's Drivers Side in Park

86 300sdl
Whining noise coming from the drivers side when I accelerate (raise the RPM's) in park with a/c off. Power steering pump? I searched the forums and
couldn't find a definite answer on the noise. Have you ever run into this
before? Also concerning ALDA; Can you completely remove it and plug the hose to the overboost? Does the overboost still work and are there any
dangers?

You must have a transmission problem if you can accelarate in park.

gcloys; Not familiar with ALDA, sorry.

Paulc66t; What automobile engine doesn't accelerate in park if you depress the accelerator? My guess is they all do, unless it's the new drive by wire technology. My guess is that his transmission is okay.

gcloys; It sounds like a power steering pump, but difficult to know exactly because a noise like that could come from a piece of paper stuck in the fan. Unlikely, but I've seen stranger things stuck in there, like a cat. With a very long screwdriver placed carefully on the suspect part and the other end to your ear, you'll hear the noise amplified and will be able to isolate the culprit part.

Hope that helps.

I'll put the mechanics "stethoscope" on it to see if it is. At idle it's not noticable. Thought someone might know right of the bat. Thanks
