Guess what I found?

A 1982 300SD Turbo-diesel with 151,000 actual miles, mint body, has been sitting in a driveway for 8 years. Same exact color as my old 82 SD -- silver, but this one has a black interior which looks like it just came out of the showroom. Apparently an old lady owns it and it was her deceased husbands car. Spoke with her neighbor who said she wants $5000 for it. Cali plates still on it. Body almost perfect w no dents and original silver paint. Nice find? : )

If I could find a mint set of chrome Ronal R31's....Ill be on this! anyone?

Thats a TON of money for a car thats been sitting outside for 8 years. I can't imagin its that nice.

Does it even run? I'd offer her $500 for it, $1k if it ran and drove good enough.

Are you kidding? I already owned this cars twin. Mine was also a Cali car (doctor's car) and mine had 171,000 miles on it. It was the best car I have ever owned in my life -- and ive owned a LOT of cars. Reliable, GREAT mileage, LOW LOW maintainence, and solid. The body on this one is PERFECT. the interior is PERFECT. If you dont think I could stick a new battery in this thing and fire it up you are nuts. I might add some fresh diesel, prime the pump a bit but that thing is a FIND.

Ill let you guys know. Apparentley many others might feel the same way about that much money for that old of a car. For those of us who KNOW..
This car is a gem, a rare find, a once in a lifetime opportunity. How many of these suckers do you think are still around in that kind of perfect original condition? Even the bundt pan wheels are spotless. Id hand her over 5 g's in heartbeat.

It's just that I want a set of chrome Ronal R31's to pimp it out...kind of a
dream I had...but I guess they are discontinued now....

Ill keep you guys posted. She has no "for sale" sign on it. Never has. But her neighbor said its for sale.

Make sure to crank it for a bit with the stop lever down to get some oil pressure up. Also shift the trans from reverse to drive a few times to get the fluid pumping, than check it. They tend to leak from the front or rear seals if they sit. Don't forget to stomp on the brakes before driving off to make sure they bite and hold, rotors are probably pretty rusty but should clean right up. Its going to need all the fluids, filters, belts, some hoses, and tires at least.

I guess everyone's idea of a perfect car is different.
