Power Steering Pump Leak

Hey guys,

I have a 1987 300 SDL turbodiesel...

I am not sure what to do in this situation, buy a gasket/oring kit or just replace the whole dang thing...

This was the first time I went in to change the powersteering fluid in the car since I have had it in Nov.

Well it was late at night and I was trying to figure out the brake fluid from the power steering fluid, well I accidently swapped them since it was dark and I was unfamiliar with the locations on this car...I put PS in the brake fluid reservior and vice versa, well not too long after I developed a leak in the powersteering pump, although I siphoned off the fluid on the brake reservior from the top since they seemed to seperate (brake fluid heavier than PS)

But even after draining the powersteering fluid and filling with Lucas, hoping it would reseal alas it didn't...heres the location though, it does not appear to be leaking on any of the hoses to or from the pump nor on the rack and pinion, the leak seems to be near the front of the pump so much so that it has leaked on my belt horribly andit leaks on the ground after driving the car....the location also for perspective is right behind the front bumper...

So I am not sure how hard these things are to take apart and just put new seals in (I saw advanced makes a seal kit for them) or should I just buy a whole new powersteering pump and pully....any advice on this would be greatly appreciated...

Even still, you need to completely flush the brake system since it has been contaminated. Don't skimp on your primary safety equipment, the brakes are far more important than power steering.

Well I may check that out afterwards, but the ounce or two of fluid it took sperated, and the PS came to the top so i don't think anything got into the system, but I am more concerned about getting the powersteering done now, seeing as it has been 6 weeks since this happened and brakes have not acted funny, nor have I seen any drop in my brake fluid indicating a leak, whereas the PS has had a hard leak, then it slowed down a bit then it started leaking really bad recently....

When I stuck my hand underneath the pump there was fresh PS fluid each time I put my hand down there although I could not see it dripping, maybe it was where the snout and the pulley connects onto the pump with four bolts? any ideas?
