Diesel sweep at Le Mans ...

... a little off-topic but probably relevant to any dieselhead ... the 24 Hours of Le Mans finished this morning, and guess what the top six finishers all had in common ... . Six diesel cars entered the race and they took the top six spots ... Audi, Peugot, Peugot, Audi, Peugot, Audi. The top Audi and top Peugot were on the same lap all the way to the end, very exciting, especially with the weather thrown in. Even though most of America has no idea what it is, this is really the greatest motorsport event in the world, and to have diesel become so prominant there is a huge boost for the image of the technology.

Maybe these guys are a little different than our 240Ds, but still ...

LeMans

Yeah!
I was watching the Audi TDI 10 cyl pit just before I fell asleep in front of the TV.

I got to about 15 minutes before the end, then had to leave for church.....

The weather and tire choices seemed to be making a huge difference.

I caught a bit of the Le Mans race last night. I found the announcers comparison between the Peugeot and Audi to be interesting. Peugeot built a "sprinter" while the Audi was a "marathon runner".

I missed the end of the race due to church, too. Same thing happens to me for European F1 venues.

I bought an Audi TDI Le Mans t-shirt at the Watkins Glen Historics the other year to show my pride in compression ignition.

I'm glad the Germans pulled it off again!

Now I want to see some Mercedes in that race!

If I ever get rich enough before I am too old to do it I would love to go to it.
