I recently bought a used OEM door check and noticed it's not nearly as "tight" as others I've had. Looks like they changed the design of the door check over the years. I think I replaced an original door check in my 1983 300D with one from, I believe, an early model. The part fit just fine, but it looked very different.


Has anyone else observed different construction and overall feel
of the door checks in an early vs. late W123?

I recently replaced the original check on my 240D. I agree that the stops are not quite as firm as the original design (still better than the one that I replaced that was in pieces )

But, it works just fine, and it fit perfectly, so I can't really complain about it. (except that the brass is so shiny that it is painfully, obviously a new part.....
