Good shop found on road trip

We went on a ten day road trip with the 85 240D. East of the Cascades down to Reno, then west over to Eureka on the coat and back north. All of inland northern Ca was covered in smoke and it was hot. so I stopped at an MB shop in Paradise Ca to get the AC checked out, really not expecting that the guy would be able to do anything on a Fri afternoon. He told me too come back at three and he'd see why the AC wasn't blowing very cold. Since we dont mess with AC much up in the NW corner I dont know if $100 is a good price for recharging my system or not. I was only 1/3 full (134) and he must have spent close too two hours on it. Said if "sealer" had ever been put it he couldn't do it so he checked for sealer in the system.
There were two other 123s in his shop and he seemed to like the older cars so if you think I got a good deal its "Ernst Mercedes Specialust" , 5649 Skyway, Paradise Ca.
The only problem on the trip besides the AC was a faulty temp gauge which would show 100c+ but my infra red gun said it was normal when I hopped out a popped the hood. I changed out the sensor, tightened all the grounds and fasteners in back of the cluster and even added another ground, still didn't read right, what seemed too fix it was a good rap with my knuckle on the lower left corner of the cluster when the temp started to climb. Its been working fine since I started north on the Ca coast.
OF course is way cooler there but plenty of long up hill grades to watch the temp go up to 100 but come back to below 85c coming down hill, like shes spoz too.

Thanks, Yes it seemed very reasonable to me. He put a dye in the system also. I had not used the AC in four years, since the last trip south and should have had it serviced before I left. Anyway it was refreshing too find a competent and friendly MB mechanic that liked the "oldies".
